The first of two wicking beds was low lying and installed on a slope. One end was dug in to ensure the water reservoir beneath remained level as these beds water from below.

This area receives little sun in winter, so is probably best for salad greens at that time of year. However in summer, it receives full sun right overhead so will be extremely prolific.

The large width and length give a lot of growing space, ideal for things like corn, zucchini, pumpkin as well as many rows of smaller vegetables.

We looked forward to installing the second taller bed a few weeks later!
